http://tinyurl.com/53nvx7
Project Background:
Funded through Student Pathways for Success the “Learning Technology Literacy Project” is a 3 year project that is renewable on an annual basis The project will fund hardware, software and training over the course of the project The goal of the project is to help support at risk students in the area of writing The long term goal is to increase the percentage of students successfully completing 8 credits by the end of grade 9.
Accountability:
A project of this scope is expensive. In order to justify the expense we need to put some accountability pieces in place to ensure that the equipment is used appropriately and that they help improve student achievement These are not a reflection of the teachers involved. The project will assess how the students are performing academically and attitudinally Below are the potential indicators that will be used.
TVDSB Strategic Goal #3Increase the percentage of students attaining 8 credits

TVDSB Strategic Goal #4Increase the graduation rates by increasing the percentage of students who pass the Grade 10 Literacy test

  • Increased attendance
  • Report card marks, and learning skills
  • DRA
  • TVDSB writing measurement tool
  • Shared lesson development (NETS format)
  • Qualitative survey (students and teachers)
  • Collaboration within school (common planning time, meeting, etc…)
  • Collaboration with other project schools (i.e., lesson study, class visits, etc…)

Professional Development:
We are still in the planning stages of how the PD will be rolled out. However we are looking at possibly 8 full days of release time over the course of the school year. The release days will be a combination of large group training at CEC Central and small group planning sessions at your school. The small group planning sessions will be chaired by a Learning Technology Coordinator and will have agenda items and deliverables. Release days may also be used for classroom visits to view other teachers and how they implement the use of the laptop lab.
